You are warmly invited to the official opening/presentation of the newly transformed school shelters

Walker Road Primary School pupils Primary 1-7 and parent volunteers have created vibrant new artworks on show in the playground.

The Walker Road School Shelter Project worked with all pupils from primary 1-7 and parent/adult volunteers (around 400 participants) to transform two playground shelters into bright, vibrant, colourful, fun spaces.

Classroom art sessions and parent and child after school art sessions were run to create the artworks.  Younger primary pupils created large scale collages which the older pupils and adult volunteers translated into large paintings on plywood.  The final outcome is a grand collaborative effort encouraging shared ownership and pride in achievement.  A school art club will be established on the back of this project to nurture the pupil's artistic talent.

The project was led by the Arts Development team in partnership with Walker Road School and was funded through the Fairer Scotland Fund.

For more information on the project please contact Chris McGeachie (Community Arts Tutor) 01224 523640
